Munchkin Market

So Munchkin Market was everything I wanted and more.  Except for now I am depressed that it is over.  It happens every year....the anticipation, the anxiety, the crazys coming out to play and then BOOM its over.  In the meantime as I wait 6 months for it to re-enter my life again, my kids have  closets full of beautiful clothes that they may or may not ever wear but to me they just shine with success.  Since they are such great prices.....it is basically like I am renting the clothes.  If all goes well and the kids don't get too cray cray, I will sale them back for the same price or more.  Win Win!!!

Let me back up and explain the Munchkin Market concept to those who may not be familiar.  Two brilliant ladies designed a consignment sale twice a year for "upscale" clothes.  It was truly brilliance.  They have built a dynasty of consignors with super cute clothes sold each year.  They also offer "volunteer" shifts......the more you work the earlier you shop.  16 hours gets you in first, therefore 16 hours of my time they receive.  I absolute can NOT stand anyone shopping before me.  On shopping day, I must carve out at least 4 hours of my day.  Yes, I require that much time to make decisions.  Since you cannot return items you must be sure of your purchases.  Let me help you with a visual.  The doors open...I power walk to Landon's size (always go to girls first), I drag a laundry basket with a dog leash attached behind me, and start dumping clothes while quickly trying to see everything before someone tries to skip in front of me.  Once I have dump my 1st look at the girls into the basket, I briskly walk to the boys and repeat.  Next...shoes ( I always always restock my shoes here). Then on to the books and toys......by now my mound of clothes is falling out of the basket and I am awkwardly trying to hold on to it and not look too crazy.  (which I clearly am).  Once this is done, I repeat for a second look to be sure I didn't miss anything.  When I am finally satisfied, I find a spot on the floor to review and make decisions.  I make 4 piles:  Must keep, lets think about it, I don't need it, and why did I pick this up.

After about 4 hours I am walking out with restocked clothes!!!! Happiest.day.ever!!!  Now, don't forget that I am also a consignor.  The last two sales, I have made more than I spent.  You know what that means? Basically FREE clothes!!!!

Selling at Munchkin Market takes practice.  It's all about the pricing,  I sold the most that I have ever sold this year and continue to get better each sale.  My friend Kourtney (name drop) has given me some mad tips along the way that is molding me each year.  I seriously could talk about this all day long.  I.love.it.

In closing, here are some pics of clothes that has made their new home with the Emorys!!

Look at that collection of pretties!!

Have you ever seen these pants for kids??

Are you sharing in my excitement???

Tis the Season of Shopping!!

And so it begins.....the season to shop, "deals" popping up everyday, preperation for black friday, my obsession over prices, and so on and so on. Arent you so excited?!?!?

A couple of major things to be aware of: Target will be posting 50% off cartwheel offer on top toys everyday!! Cartwheel offers can be combined with coupons!! For example, in this weeks paper target offers a 25% coupon on any item in the toy department....this can be combined with the 50% cartwheel deal....today it is the mega block wagon which is great gift for a one year old!!

Be aware that any coupons/deals that arise will have quick expiration dates and will go fast at the stores. If it is item on your list, get there early and fast!!

I also encourage you to check out halloween clearance deals!!  Many Targets went to 90% off!! I scored some great "costumes" to use for dress up for Landon!! Walmart had a ton at 50% off including thanksgiving.  I bought a few pumpkins, Halloween plates and cupcake wrappers, and a couple of crafts.

I am also obsessing over Amazon's daily deals........they are so much fun to watch and are offered throughout the day!!!

Where do you find your greatest deals this holiday season??

Blog Confessions and Update on Deals

I have been awful at blogging lately.  I am constantly taking pictures of different things so that I can include it on my blog, but I never blog?!?!  My confession.........I have been sleeping in a bit.  Sometimes not getting up until 6:30 AM WHAT?!?! Crazy late for me!!!  Therefore, my blogging time has suffered.

My new plan:  I am going to try and stick to a Monday/Wednesday/Friday blog plan.  Trying to blog every day is an unreal expectation right now.  It just doesnt work out.  Hopefully setting this goal will help with some consistency on when you get to read my ground breaking thoughts. :)

This week at Walgreens I scored some crazy awesome deals!!

A box of Capri Sun - Buy 2 for $4 receive 2,000 points which equals $2 - Therefore $1 each!!! Perfect since I signed up for Juice boxes for RL's Halloween party at school!!

Colgate Toothpaste - $3.50 receive $3 Register Rewards and use .50 coupon from last weeks paper = FREE

***Everyone check this one out!!**

In the Walgreen's ad (you can pick it up in the store) - there is a $5 off coupon for Halloween costumes.  Some costumes are $5.99 so you can get them for 99 cents.  But WAIT....some of the $5.99 costumes are on clearance for $3.19 which means you get them for FREE!! What! What!  Limit 3.

This is super easy and you don't have to walk in with anything (other have a Walgreens card) and score this deal.  Make sure to check out your local Walgreens to see what you can find.  Varies by store!

Not pictured: angel costume and toothpaste.

Total spent in the picture above plus toothpaste and angel costume: $2!!!

I also want to make sure that everyone is aware and using the walmart savings catcher app. For those of you who absolutely dont want to touch a coupon here is any easy way for you to save!! Download the walmart app, scan your receipt after shopping and then the app will search for any competitor prices and then PAY YOU the difference!!! Yes, seriously. Its like price matching without the work. A coworker has earned up to $20 from her last trip. Ive only earned 28 cents which is a result of already knowing the lowest prices. However this may change the way i shop. We will see!!

Bonus pics for the weekend!!

Nope!!  I realize this, but I am still a work in progress!

She and her family live in South Korea but are in town and will be visiting her parents in Hot Springs!! Unfortunately, RL has an ear infection and strep but we will not be stopped!!! I didnt think I would be stopping at CVS this week, but Ive changed my mind. I am completely out of diet coke so I have decided for the first time I would try out their free gas offer. Black Friday Continued

It is like I have been completely obsessed with all things sales.  I honestly don't even know if I will be shopping on Black Friday.  I just know that I am OBSESSED with the DEALS.  Craziness people!!  There are SALES everywhere.

Here are a few highlights:

1) Need a new comfortable carseat?? The Gracco My Ride is on sale on Amazon and Britax is on sale at Diapers.com RIGHT.NOW.

2) Kelly's Kids clothing will have 50% off of $100 of more on Friday.  I ADORE their matching sibling sets.

3) One of my all time favorite Black Friday sales is Remember Nguyen (website).  Everything is 50% off including clearance (I almost didn't want to post, because I didn't want you to grab up my sizes.  Then I realized that "my following" is not that strong). :)

4) The pocket hose will be on sale Friday at CVS for 9.99.  It is regularly 19.99.  Have you tried this yet?
We love it! It is 10 million times better than dragging around a big ole water hose!  Also, at CVS you can pick up cheap Cherrios, along with free candy and toothbrushes!

5) Have you seen the ever so popular Dream Lites? They are everywhere! After receiving 5000 points at Walgreens with your purchase, you can pick up one for 14.99!! My almost three year old is having major sleeping by herself issues.  I wonder if this weird looking little animal with lights would do the trick??

***PLUS - LOOK AT ALL THE 'FREE'!!***

To close out this edition of Black Friday talk, we cannot leave out my most favorite item in my life.  Next to God and family.......comes my Mr. P's tees.  Yep...before cake, before chocolate, before Mac and cheese, and all other amazing things in my life........my tees hold a strong place in my heart.  They pitched and tent and have made their home, every.single.one.  #nofavorites.

If you are local, Miss Persnickity Joon will be selling these mascot tees for $5 off.  If you don't have one by now you are missing out!! They are a MUST WEAR ALL THE TIME!!

Deals This Week and Monthly Budget Wrap Up

Well, the title is a bit misleading. There are no good deals to report this week.

There are some options if you are specifically looking for items like shampoo and crest mouthwash (coupon 9/29) from walgreens or robitussin (coupon 9/29) from cvs, but other than that.....nothing.

It has been a bit dull lately in the coupon world. I expect to have an explosion soon. For now, I will enjoy the break from extreme couponing and just coupon for general items needed.

I made a big trip to walmart this weekend.  I usually only have to go to walmart once every 6 weeks or so to load up on things that I can't find on sale.  It was time for a humidifier filter, vitamins, kids tylenol, and that kind of stuff.  I also LOADED.UP. on baking goods.  It is time for holiday baking!!!!  Coupon or not, I will always buy pumpkin!! Thank goodness I never have to buy tolietries or else I would really be bitter.  This should take care of our major needs for the month.  A few things are needed at Sams, but other than that we will just pick up a few things throughout the month and hopefully stay within budget.

I promised I would share my monthly grocery spending at the end of the month.  Honestly, I have been a little lax lately and have not been super strict with the spending.  Compared to a typical family grocery bill, I am still happy with my results.  Remember that I also had a family of 4 visit for a weekend!! I do not include any diapers or formula in my total.

CVS - 1.72

Rite Aid - 21.00, 5.00, 2.50 - Cereal, k-cups, shaving cream, Halloween candy

Brookshires - 68 - Loaded up on Meat

Walmart - 100 - Lots of veggies and snacks for entertaining.

Walgreens - $2.18 - 2 Boxes of Kashi cereal

Walmart - $17 - Milk and veggies

Target - $30 - Cereal sale, fruit snacks, shampoo sale

Total for the month of September - $264.90

Before I started couponing and looking for sales, my monthly grocery ranged between 400-500, so I am saving significant dollars every month!!!

**I did not have to buy any diapers this month due to previous sales**

Deals this Week

I was not overwhelmed with anything this week, so this will be short!

I am on the roll with "rolling" my up rewards at Rite Aid!! I was glad to see a couple of great items that we use to keep me going.

Renu contact solution was on sale for 8.99 with $6 up rewards. I used $2 off from coupons.com to make it 99 cents!! This coupon is no longer available, but I have am extra one if you need it!!

I also picked up crest toothpaste for $3 with $3 up and used 50 cents off from coupons.com. Moneymaker!!

With my rewards I paid $5 out of pocket and received $9 back!! I've seen HUGE savings at Rite Aid this month. I have spent a little bit here and a little bit there (mostly tax) and gotten a ton of products!!

In the past, I could go weeks without going to Rite Aid...weeks. Well, the powers that be must have heard my battle cry because it is as if they have written every deal just for ME!! The cashiers typically arent super knowledgable about coupons, but its not complicated and every transaction usually works out.

Remember that the Ups rewards that you have on file will cover your subtotal before tax.  Ups rewards will print at the bottom of your ticket and is the only record of the rewards you have and when they expire.  Keep your ticket!!!  Also, remember that Up rewards can't be split.  For example, you have a $5 reward to use and you purchased a $3 product.  It will not be applied to the product because it does not equal $5.  Once you scan your wellness card, the rewards available will automatically apply to your total (I have amazed some cashiers at how far my total was reduced!).

Rewards expire after a week and a half.  So once you have received a reward you have committed to shopping again at Rite Aid within that time frame.  Otherwise, you are THROWING AWAY money.  Please don't do this people!!  If you have not had time to check out the deals that week, buy some birthday cards or off brand cold medicine.....something that you can use.

Also....if you have not signed up for emails at CVS.com...DO.IT.NOW.  Yesterday they emailed me ANOTHER $3 Extra Care Bucks.  This is free money with no purchase.  I have seriously received about $15 worth of these in my email.  It is insanity.  You could walk in to CVS and receive $3 worth of products for FREE!!!!

I love the easy weeks!  It keeps me motivated and reminds me that this is all worth it to save money!!!

Deals this Week

This week has been super crazy for me.  I am behind in EVERYTHING  in life so checking out weekly deals got pushed back several days.  Honestly, my Sunday paper is still in the back seat of my car!!

As we are heading into the end of the week, I wanted to point out a few things that I think are worth your time.  I knew that I had up rewards at Rite Aid that expired today, so I took a quick look at Krazy Coupon Lady to find a few easy deals for products I use.

Noxema Shaving Cream is still on sale for $1.99 with $2 Up rewards.  The limit is 4 and I picked up a couple last week and I grabbed a couple more today.

I was SO EXCITED to see that Special K cereal was on sale for 2 for $4 (compared to $3 a box at Wal-Mart).  You will use an in-ad Rite Aid coupon to get this price and stack with $1 off coupon from coupons.com.  Totaling $1 a box!!! Cereal prices have been AMAZING lately!!

Finally, bags of fun size snickers were on sale for 2 for $5 with a $1 up reward with the purchase of 2.  I bought 6 bags and used 2 $1.50 off 3 coupons from coupons.com.  With coupons and ups rewards it equals $1.50 per bag!!

Compared to this Wal-Mart price!!

Halloween candy.  Check!  Ready for the trick or treaters!!

My out of pocket expense for all of these items including tax was $2.50!!! I then received $7 ups rewards back!! You absolutely cannot beat this system.  It is so much fun and such a high to know that you are really stocking up with rock bottom prices for your family.

I am keeping a tally of all of my grocery expenses over the month of September to share with you at the end of the month.  I have been able to significantly reduce my monthly grocery bill and I hope to encourage others to do the same!!!

Brookshires Deals - Week of 9/4

Here we go again....another BOGO Brookshires Sale!!!  Geez, Mr. Brookshires sure knows how to make a couponing girl fall in love. Sales...lots of them.....on my birthday week!! I don't need much in life.  Just a good penny sale to ring in the big THIRTY FOUR.  I actually had to subtract 1979 from 2013 to confirm I was correct on my age.  At some point, you just loose track or don't care...whatever.

Items I like in the sale this week:

Sirloin Steak - BOGO - would be good for some fajitas!

Tyson Boneless Skinless Chicken - BOGO - My go to freezer meals!

Nature's Own Whole Wheat Bread BOGO - (this item typically goes fast) - throw a loaf in the freezer and save for later

Red Bell Pepper - BOGO - I have been wanting to roast one and let baby R try it out!

Brookshires Chips - BOGO - It's Football season! You always need chips!!

Green Giant Steamers - BOGO Use .60/3 from coupons.com

Fresh Express Shreds - BOGO - Use the lettuce for the fajitas

Libbys Canned Veggies - BOGO - Buy 4 and use $1/4 from RP 8/25

3lb bag of apples - BOGO - Baked apples for R and maybe some apple art projects for RL?

There are other deals out there, but this is all I need this week.  Remember that sales always come back around so don't get out of control.  Since I still have meat in the freezer from previous sales and my dad just dropped off a ton of deer meat, this will be all I need for the week!

Brookshires' sales run Wednesday through Tuesday.  The earlier you shop the better the selection, but they typically don't completely run out.
