With that being said, I actually do not own a sweatshirt. I feel like its a crime that i dont. I think about it all the time. Where I would wear it, what I would wear it with, how many comoliments I would get, how people would probably think I am a super hip mom. Okay okay. Ill stop.

Point is....today is my day. I will pull the trigger and buy a sweatshirt ON SALE!!! Woot woot!! Join me at the sale!! Persnickity Joon downtown WM. If you are not local, let me know and I will look for something for you!!!

Brookshires Cooking

You know that I am a huge fan of Brookshires sales. I love everything about this store except for the everyday prices. They are steep!!! I'm talking an extra $1.50-$2.00 compared to Wal-Mart. This adds up quick. However the sales make me do a little happy dance. :)

Here are a few meals based off of the Brookshires sales.

Gumbo. Chicken BOGO and prepared in the crockpot for easy shredding. BearCreek gumbo mix BOGO. This is an easy easy weeknight meal. Only the chicken and mix required!

Southwest salad with chicken and fresh veggies. Salad kit BOGO, chicken BOGO cooked on the skillet and seasoned with fajiti mix BOGO, fresh veggies precut on sale for 99 cents!! What was that? You can't eat healthy when couponing and shopping sales?? Well, yeah you can...

Chicken alfredo over pasta. Chicken, alfredo, and pasta all BOGO

This was delicious!!! I seasoned chicken with pepper, italian, and basil. Then added just 3 tablespoons of alfredo. Cook pasta as directed. 20 minutes start to finish!!

Just Some Stuff...

Its Sunday morning and I have been up and productive since 5 AM. Why in the world you wonder?

Meet my second job

The Big Whit 77 Foundation. I have been blessed for the last 4 years to be the director of this foundation. I have learned alot, done things I
never imagined I could (planned a concert start to finish) and met some amazing people.

However it doesnt come without sacrifice of the early morning hours. This morning I am scanning 140 applications for a college scholarship. Why at 5 am? The names are Reese Landon, Ruddick, and Daniel Emory. They are not huge fans of leaving me undisturbed in thier waking hours.
So with my fresh coffee and watching "mister ed" in the background, I scan.

I'll also use this time to give you a few picture updates.

Driving the car together in thier pjs

Precious babies holding hands

Ruddick eating his first sucker after his ENT appointment (tonsillitis and back on reflux meds)

I had to include this Walgreens trip that left me on a tremendous high!! $2 moneymaker on deodorant, FREE vitamin candy, six FREE rockstar drinks, and kashi cereal $1 less than Walmart. This was fun!

This kid is a total lap baby. He prefers daddy, but will take mama. Dont you dare try to take that paci!!

Happy Sunday. Get to church and praise Jesus!!

Valentines Day

What does it mean to you??

It doesn't mean a whole lot to me.  I am just not  big hallmark holiday kinda girl.  Maybe I was scorned in my younger years and spent too many Vday's alone.  Whatever the reason, I just don't get hyped up about the holiday.  This is good news to my husband because he STRESSES when he is solely responsible for finding a "thoughtful" gift.  Unfortunately for him, that is my rule.  If its not thoughtful, don't waste the money.

I do have great memories of Valentines day as a child sponsored by my parents.  I typically got flowers or balloons sent to my school so that I could be the center of attention.  I liked that back then.  I remember the Valentines day of my 6th grade year.  My boyfriend and I were having some problems.  He was interested in a 7th grade cheerleader. (I can still feel the jealousy).  My parents sent me a HUGE heart balloon with a teddy bear inside to the school.  I secretly pretended it was from another boy and held out for a while before admitted the true sender.  There is nothing wrong with a little mystery.  On that day, I was WAY cooler than that 7th grade cheerleader, Kristy Bay.  Yes....I still remember her name.

Soooo...I knew that I wanted to do something fun for my kids for V-day.  This year I am covering their door with hearts with a special note.  I had intended on starting this Feb 1st, but I didnt. :(  I started it Monday and add a heart each day.  RL is loving this!!!  To throw in a little Math, when she gets 5 hearts (Friday), there will be a SURPRISE from daddy!!

Next year, I may even try to decorate a bit!!

Brookshires BOGO

I had every intention of posting about this sale earlier, but life is just too much times. If weather permits, you still have one more day to take advantage of this sale.

If you dont have your circular, look online for all that the sale includes.

Here is an example. My dog food was on sale BOGO plus I had TWO coupons to use!

This is why you must always cut or print out coupons for your favorite items or things you can use if they go on sale!!

There are so many meals in this $130. Follow me as I see how long I can stretch these groceries throughout the month!!

Target and Cartwheel

I hope you are all using Target Cartwheel on EVERY shopping trip to target.  I am serious.  You should not get into the check out line until you have made sure to check each item in your cart for a cartwheel offer.  There is one for pretty much everything!!

Target has now made it easier by allowing you to scan the ITEM to determine if there is an offer.  PERFECT!!  Let me say it again.  Scan EVERY item.  You must have the most updated version of Cartwheel for this option.

Did you know that right now there is a Cartwheel offer for 20% OFF CARSEATS!! What?!? (sent in by a reader. :)  I recently got a cartwheel for 20% the DOLLAR SPOT!  There are savings everywhere!

Cartwheels can be stacked ON TOP of coupons! PLUS, I hope you all have the Target debit card, right? It gives you 5% off every.single.purchase.  So you use coupons, cartwheel, and the debit card and you have a TON of savings!!

If you are new to Cartwheel, look on the right side of my blog for the target label.  You will see details there.

Loading the kids up for a road trip to Baton Rouge to visit my sister! Can't wait!!!!

Walgreen Deals this Week

This week Walgreens hit it out of the park with freebies!!  Always remember to split your transactions if you are buying multiple items with rewards.  This will lower the amount of money you pay out of pocket in a single trip.

**Walgreens rule - you must have the same amount of items to purchase as you have coupons and register rewards.  For example:  You are buying 3 soaps and you have a coupon for each one AND you want to pay with a Register Reward.  This is 4 "coupons" for only 3 items and will not be allowed.  In this case, you would want to grab a filler item.  Maybe something that you need that is on sale to match the price of walmart, or a pack of gum, or a 10 cent piece of caramel they often have sitting by the register.

The follow are easy free items AFTER RR.  Take 10% of the price to determine what you will actually be paying for the item (tax).  Will you use the item? Can you donate? Remember that if you are donating the item you can claim the actual price of the item for tax purposes.

- Mountain Dew Kick Start - $1.00 - 10 cents
- Jamieson Melotonin - $7.00 - 70 cents
- Next 10 Energy Shots - $5.00 - 50 cents
- Urinary Infection Test Strips - $8.00 - 80 cents
- Urinary Health Supplement - $10.00 - 1 dollar
- Probiotic Digestive Health - $10.00 - 1 dollar

So $43.10 dollars worth of products for $2.10.  I'd say that is a pretty good deal, right?

Want an update on whats going on in the Emory household? I know you do.  Well, baby Ruddick is no longer has a bottle. :( I was sad since he is my final baby.  Daniel was HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY since he is in charge of making and washing all of the bottles. They are Dr. Browns so you can imagine he is a little burned out.  I am an all or nothing mama when it comes to this transition .....no weaning....... no mixing ......just do it. We woke up Sunday morning with only offering milk in a sippy. He did GREAT! He was pretty grouchy and had to learn to eat more of the food offered, but he was ready.  Mama is still a little sad.

Kitchen Must Haves

Today I will share my kitchen must haves that are inexpensive, quick and easy and are not terrible unhealthy.

Love all things in the bear creek line. It will go on sale at brookshires every once in while.

LOVE this. Coupons.com often have a coupon available.

Just add meat ( I use deer meat, see "healthy choice") or sausage

Its whole grain, so not terrible unhealthy :)

Coupons from the paper!

This is just plain good!!

Spice up your chicken! Coupons.com

Tilapia is ALWAYS stocked because it defrosts quickly. I buy my big bag from Sams!!

All of the above items are a few kitchen staples. Typically most of them are used on a splurge day since they dont fall within summer weight daniels diet (if you are new, I will explain later)

Chicken and Veggies

Today I want to give an example of a quick and healthy meal based on sales and coupons.  That is what this couponing life is all about - USING the items that can be purchased at a lower price.  There are basically 2 ways to coupon: 1) Save a little by clipping a few coupons here and there and trying to remember to use them (I do not disagree with this - saving a little is better than nothing) 2) Save a lot by changing your life style - stocked items in your household are based on best prices and always avoid full price!

Kraft Fresh Take is an inexpensive option to put an extra spin on chicken.  There is typically an available coupon at coupons.com so then will cost around $1 at Wal-mart (they also go on sale at Brookshires)

Chicken purchased BOGO at Brookshires

These veggies are one of my FAVORITE finds!! These are normally around $5 at Brookshires.  Please never purchase for this amount.  When they get close to expiration, they are marked down to 99 cents!! I LOVE this! They are already seasoned and soooo good.  There are several different varieties!

Meal for the entire family for around $5!! EASY. HEALTHY.CHEAP!!
