It doesn't mean a whole lot to me. I am just not big hallmark holiday kinda girl. Maybe I was scorned in my younger years and spent too many Vday's alone. Whatever the reason, I just don't get hyped up about the holiday. This is good news to my husband because he STRESSES when he is solely responsible for finding a "thoughtful" gift. Unfortunately for him, that is my rule. If its not thoughtful, don't waste the money.
I do have great memories of Valentines day as a child sponsored by my parents. I typically got flowers or balloons sent to my school so that I could be the center of attention. I liked that back then. I remember the Valentines day of my 6th grade year. My boyfriend and I were having some problems. He was interested in a 7th grade cheerleader. (I can still feel the jealousy). My parents sent me a HUGE heart balloon with a teddy bear inside to the school. I secretly pretended it was from another boy and held out for a while before admitted the true sender. There is nothing wrong with a little mystery. On that day, I was WAY cooler than that 7th grade cheerleader, Kristy Bay. Yes....I still remember her name.
Soooo...I knew that I wanted to do something fun for my kids for V-day. This year I am covering their door with hearts with a special note. I had intended on starting this Feb 1st, but I didnt. :( I started it Monday and add a heart each day. RL is loving this!!! To throw in a little Math, when she gets 5 hearts (Friday), there will be a SURPRISE from daddy!!
Next year, I may even try to decorate a bit!!
