Let them see You

It's Monday and the beginning of another busy week.  Lots of Big Whit work to do and I'm already behind, our FIRST wee ball practice, empty fridge so must look for sales, I really need to cook something....anything this week, my FIRST mascara party on Friday, my FIRST training to lead at my new job, neighborhood party, birthday party, Landon's speech evaluation, Ruddick's Early Steps evaluation........seriously it's only Monday.

Did you realize that Easter is just two weeks away?? I have two weeks to get into the Easter spirit and attempt to teach my kids why we celebrate.  I found this idea AFTER Easter last year on pinterest and I have been waiting a whole year to try it.

An Easter tree and Resurrection Eggs.

Here is a link to the verses I will use for the Eggs.  I will choose my symbols as I go.  You can always use a printable picture as a back up if you can't find a tangible picture.

I also have a special surprise for neighbors.  They are getting EGGED!! Hehe.  I will share those details later this week.

Coming off a tough weekend and going into another week, I spent some time trying to regroup myself this morning.  I want to share one my favorite songs that really helps to reset me and turn my focus to what is most important.

Sit back, listen, and enjoy.

Kids Crafts - Colored Bubbles

I found this neat idea on a blog a while back and put it in my back pocket for a day that RL gets bored and in need for something new.

She doesnt sit for crafts for more than probably 5 minutes at a time, but this held her attention for a full 10 minutes!!

I filled a baby food jar with milk and added food coloring. Then allowed her to blow bubbles!!

Make sure to place the jar in something to catch the mess (whoops. I got too excited!)

Now change up the colors!

She liked to watch the colors mix.

We were a big fan of this activity!!!!

Kids Crafts and Another Pinerest Fail

Why is it that I cannot seem to successfully duplicate any of the cute pinterest projects?? Perhaps another purpose of my blog is to save my readers time by sharing my failures.  Yes, that must be it.

Here is the pin:   Mix elmers glue with food coloring and paint the glass

This is what I ended up with:

Maybe its because I didn't use "Elmers" glue??

So with that failure behind me, I wanted to do another sensory project with RL. Mixing food coloring, shaving cream, and corn starch to make a fluffy playdough type consistency.

The blogger raved about how much fun this dough is that even the adults were addicted. Really cool right?

Nope...couldn't make that work either.  Adding the corn starch just made it crumble. Most certainly not something that anyone wanted to play with.

RL did have fun being messy with the pink shaving cream though.  She wasn't even scared of the mess!!

She really liked her pink hands!

Then I decided to add just a little corn starch which made a fun new gooey consistency. We liked to rub our hands together.

Brother watched in envy. He had to sit this one out because he would just eat it.

Bathtub Paint Craft Activity and More Target Deals

You know how eveything looks so pretty and easy on pinterest? You know how in real life it never turns out the same way? Well, at least mine never do.

Example #1 - Bathtub Paint

I did a google search trying to find ideas for this frosting creation flavor starter that I have obtained many of over the last few weeks.

They have been free for a while, so I went a little overboard. I have more frosting flavors than I will ever need for cupcakes for the next few years.

I found that you could mix it with shaving cream to make colored "paint" for the bathtub. So this sounds like a quick fun weeknight activity!! I was excited about taking a cute artistic looking picture of the perfectly mixed colors ready to make pretty pictures on the bathroom walls.

Instead.........this is the picture you get...

Pinterest worthy? I think not.

Here is how it all went down. I filled a muffin tin with shaving cream.

My intention was to use multiple frosting creations for different colors, but RL decided she wanted them all pink. RL sprinkled the packet unevenly over the shaving cream and roughly "stirred" each one.

It was kind of hard to really mix up in the tiny area.

Stop for a teachable moment. Can you find something that the pink color matches? "My shirt!"

Great...we've accomplished something!!

Then it was time to head to the bathtub. I intended on having multiple large paint brushes, but my lack of preparation resulted in only finding a small sized brush. Another fail.

So now we paint.

Not quite the colorful art I was imagining.

Smells good though

Making the baby drool with envy.

Then we decide to fingerpaint and scream because it's messy (I have a girly girl on my hands).

So then I really freak her out by dumping this whole hot mess in the tub.

She couldn't get out fast enough!!!

So we were done. At least there were a few learning moments, right? A beautiful mess?

Dinner for the night - Roast and Veggies.

I love the roasts with the seasoning and veggies all packaged together, but I am not always willing to pay the price. I'm sure it's not much more than everything individually, but I honestly have trouble paying full price for things. I just do. So I was excited to see this roast marked down at Wal-Mart.

Put everything in the crockpot before work and walk into a prepared meal. You don't realize what a difference it makes when you have to do absolutely nothing when walking in the door. Not even a dish to get out or clean. It was amazing.

Finally, some target deals. Target has toys marked down up to 70 % off. There are some great deals on princess and fairy toys, as well as, leap frog items. Think Christmas, birthdays, friend's birthdays!! These sales give you the opportunity to stock up and avoid sticker shock when susie q from daycare invites everyone to her birthday. (No judgement......I do it too).

Remember the day craft box.

This out of date recipe box was passed down to me from a cowoker moving out of the country.

Since recipes can easily be found with a quick google search these days I didnt have a huge need to store recipes, however I liked the shape so I wanted to use it for something.

I remembered seeing a pin about writing a note about your children and/or family on an index card everyday of the year. Jotting down what you did that day, something you noticed, or their current likes and dislikes. What a perfect box!

Modpodge/scrapbook paper/wooden letter

I LOVE how it turned out!! Now lets see how many days in a row I can remember to do this!!!
